Barcelona have made the full-back position one of their priorities for the coming summer, but there has been little consensus so far on whom they might move for. A new name appears to have been added to their shortlist.
According to Catalan newspaper Sport, Feyenoord defender Givairo Read is the latest name to feature on the radar of Director of Football Deco. The 18-year-old Dutchman has already been watched multiple times in person by Barcelona scouts, and he is an option for the summer.
The Blaugrana want a full-back capable of playing on both sides of defence, who is young and has the potential to improve. Read also fits another requirement for the Blaugrana, which is that he is unlikely to cost them too much. He does have a contract until 2029 though, and already has been linked with Premier League giants Manchester City and Liverpool, the latter of which are set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid. In particular, the Reds have been paying close attention to his progress.
Recent reports have claimed that Deco is not yet aware of how much he will have to spend this summer, but at any rate, their priority is likely to be a left winger of some reputation, likely commanding a larger transfer fee. So far this season Read has featured on 24 occasions this season, scoring once and giving seven assists, with some even calling for him to be included in the Dutch national team this March. He also started three of Feyenoord's four Champions League knockout clashes with AC Milan and Inter, missing one through suspension.
Ronald Koeman: "Pedri, Gavi and Balde? I'm very happy to have made them debut at Barcelona, but the merit went to them, because they are great players. But yes, it was a nice thing to make them debut and be able to see how they have evolved."

Other names linked to the Blaugrana for the same position are Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Ratiu, who is somewhat older, and also yet to fully convince Hansi Flick seemingly. Almeria and Spain under-21 right-back Marc Pubill is another who would be both available and is being tracked by Barcelona.
