Former Barcelona and Sevilla player Dani Alves remains out of prison after being convicted of rape, having posted bail back in March. The Brazilian has appealed his sentence which was handed down early this year.

Alves was found guilty of rape in late December of 2022 in a Barcelona nightclub while playing for Pumas in Mexico, and despite initially claiming he did not know the woman in question, then stated that the pair had consensual sex. This was not proven in court, and Alves was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison, ordered to pay €150k in damages to the victim, and given a 9.5 year restraining order. He then posted €1m in bail to be released from the charges.

He continues to live on the outskirts of Barcelona in a property that he already owned, and has started a new business, say Sport. Alves has started a new platform called Voxtom, aimed at organising, sharing and creating events easily, whether it be a birthday party or a concert. The new site has launched on Instagram, and has appealed to influencers in Brazil, where the platform will start out, to help publicise it and partake in its functions.
