Barnsley boss Darrell Clarke has said Adam Phillips has been ‘struggling’ with a toe injury over recent times.

Barnsley left the midfielder out of their squad in their clash against Wycombe Wanderers last night. They ended up drawing 2-2 after goals by Stephen Humphrys and Marc Roberts.

Phillips, 26, is poised for a scan and the Tykes are hoping that he can return to the pitch as soon as possible.

In this latest update regarding his condition, Clarke has said, as per a report by the Barnsley Chronicle: “He’s been struggling with a toe injury for a while. We need to see how it settles down. We’ve had a scan on it. Hopefully it’s not too bad.”

Regarding the game, he said: “I don’t want to sound like a broken record but it was bitty again. The lads showed character to get back in the game but I’ve told them I want and expect more. I can’t fault the effort, application and desire to want to do more. But we have to produce more quality.”
