Bristol Rovers likely would have sacked Matt Taylor if they were beaten by Charlton Athletic last Tuesday, according to Bristol Live.

Bristol Rovers endured an indifferent start to the season before a concerning turn in form.

The Gas won two, lost one and drew one in their first four games of the new League One campaign. However, they then embarked on a streak of four consecutive third-tier losses.

The streak brought a lot of pressure on the shoulders of manager Matt Taylor. Thankfully though, Rovers look to have turned a corner having won the two games since.

Now, it has emerged that the triumphs might have just saved Taylor his job.

Bristol Live states that Bristol Rovers chief Taylor likely wouldn’t have been at the helm for the clash with Burton Albion at the weekend had they been beaten by Charlton Athletic. Not only that, but defeat to the Brewers could have marked the end of his tenure too.

The wins don’t eliminate the pressure completely, but they certainly lift a weight off his shoulders.
