Birmingham City loanee Alfons Sampsted ‘isn’t expected’ to return to FC Twente, as detailed in a report by BirminghamLive.

Birmingham City landed the right-back on loan with a view to buy on a permanent basis over the summer. However, he has struggled to get into their starting XI so far this season under Chris Davies.

Sampsted, 26, is due to spend the whole campaign with the League One side but has slipped out of favour. His long-term future in the Midlands is now up in the air heading into the January transfer window.

As detailed in a report by BirminghamLive, his situation at St Andrew’s is ‘complex’ and if he isn’t happy with his lack of game time then he ‘could’ seek an exit route this winter.

Birmingham City are currently sat in 2nd place in the table behind Wycombe Wanderers as they prepare for their away trip to Shrewsbury Town.
