Birmingham City are planning to offer Kwame Poku a £30k-a-week deal to try and fend off rival interest, as per Football League World.
Birmingham City are heading back for the Championship having already secured promotion as League One champions. With four games left, BCFC now have eyes on breaking Reading’s record of most points in an EFL season (106).
There’s no hiding the Blues have spent handsomely to storm to the third-tier title this season, but they have done so in a bid to be prepared to compete at the top end of the Championship next season.
Their extensive recruitment drive this campaign means the squad doesn’t need much work, but Chris Davies is still out to strengthen where possible. And, one man firmly on the radar at St. Andrew’s has been Peterborough United star Kwame Poku.
The Ghanaian ace is out of contract and set to leave Posh this summer, with Birmingham City among multiple clubs keen.
Now though, Football League World claims BCFC plan to blow the competition out of the water by offering Poku a huge £30k-a-week contract upon the expiry of his Peterborough deal.
That translates to a hefty £1.56m per year for Poku, who has been heavily tipped to make a step up after his Posh success.
