Bristol Rovers are set to add Scott Brown as their new goalkeeper coach, a report from Bristol Live has said.

Bristol Rovers are under the lead of Matt Taylor, bringing him back into management shortly after his exit from Championship side Rotherham United.

The Millers may have just named their second manager since his exit, but some of the Gas boss’ former backroom team members remain in place at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Goalkeeping coach Scott Brown retired at Taylor’s Exeter City and became their goalkeeping coach. He would follow Taylor to Rotherham United too, and it now seems they’re set to reunite once more.

According to Bristol Live, Bristol Rovers are set to bring in Brown as their new goalkeeper coach to replace the outbound Anssi Jaakkola. The 39-year-old is expected leave relegated Rotherham and link up with Taylor at a third club.

Who is this?

A worthwhile addition for Taylor

With Jaakkola heading out, Bristol Rovers will be in for a new goalkeeper coach. And, there’s no one better for the Gas to bring in than someone who has worked with Taylor for much of his career in the dugout.

The goalkeeper coach will know exactly what the Rovers boss wants from his ‘keepers and how he works, so it should be a smooth transition into life at the Memorial Stadium under Taylor’s lead once more.

The goalkeeping department at Bristol Rovers is one that looks set for change this summer too.

Brentford loanee Matthew Cox will be back at his parent club following the end of his temporary stint. that leaves youngsters Jed Ward and Matt Hall on the books.

Ward has become the starting ‘keeper over the second half of the season but another signing will be needed, so it will be intriguing to see if a new no.1 is signed or if Ward is entrusted with the starting role moving forward.
