Burton Albion loanee Ronnie Stutter has been recalled by Chelsea, as confirmed by their official club website.

Burton Albion swooped to land the attacker in the last transfer window on a temporary basis to boost their options going forward. However, he has struggled with injuries since joining the League One side.

Stutter, 19, has played only once so far this season and has now gone back to Stamford Bridge. His contract with the Premier League giants expires in the summer of 2026 and they have a decision to make on what to do with him next now.

In this latest update regarding his situation, the Brewers have announced that he has returned to the Blues and his time at the Pirelli Stadium has been cut short.

Gary Bowyer’s side are currently sat in 24th position in the table and are inside the drop zone with Cambridge United, Shrewsbury Town and Crawley Town as they face a battle for survival.

Burton Albion loanee recalled

Burton Albion signed Stutter to add more quality to their ranks but the move hasn’t worked out.

Chelsea gave him the green light to link up with the Brewers to get some experience under his belt.

The teenager has been on the books of the Blues since 2019.

He rose up through the academy ranks at West Ham and was a regular for the Hammers at various different youth levels before switching to their rivals.

Stutter was handed his first professional contract in January 2023 along with Charlie Webster and Harrison McMahon.

The prospect is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea but has been named on their bench in the past.

What now?

His stint at Burton Albion is over and it remains to be seen what lies in store for him next.

The Brewers drew 2-2 at home to Peterborough United on New Year’s Day.

Bowyer told the club website afterwards: “To be 2-0 up and then not go on to win the game was disapointing, but again if you look at the opposition that we’re up against, they’re in a massively false position in terms of where they are in the table with the talent that they’ve got.”

He added: “I have to say our efforts are unbelievable, what the lads are giving us and who we’re coming against, they’re working their socks off and giving us absolutely everything.”

Next up for Burton Albion is a clash against Northampton Town.
