The Addicks are back in action this weekend against Southend United at Roots Hall in the first round of the FA Cup.

In this latest selection update, Jones has said, as per the official club website: “A week goes by and of course people are closer to getting fit, how many will be available for the weekend is another thing. We have been unfortunate with injuries lately and we have picked up a few innocuous ones that we didn’t see coming.

“It has been a strange time; we have got to get through it and hopefully be in a really good position so we can get everyone back and give everyone that extra lift.”

Charlton Athletic team news

Charlton Athletic’s match against Southend United of the National League is a good opportunity to play some fringe players and youngsters, just like they did against Chelsea Under-21’s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy last time out.

However, they won’t want to go too weak against the Shrimpers as they could pose a tough test.

The Addicks’ main focus this season is on the league and they are aiming to get promoted from League One.

However, they are only two wins off the third round where they could potentially be drawn against a team from the Premier League or Championship which would have big financial benefits.

Charlton Athletic have been without attacker Ahadme recently and getting him back will be a boost.

The former Ipswich Town man gives them more competition and depth up top and something different to the likes of Matty Godden and Danny Hylton.

He is back training and this Saturday could be an ideal chance to throw him back in to give him some minutes.

What now?

Charlton Athletic face an away trip to Exeter City next weekend once they get their tie against Southend United out of the way.

They are sat in 12th place in the table and are four points off the play-offs.
