How has George Dobson fared since leaving Charlton Athletic in the summer?

Charlton Athletic lost George Dobson in the summer, but quite the saga unfolded after the end of his deal at The Valley.
Charlton Athletic had midfielder George Dobson on the books for three years, and he became quite the favourite among supporters over the course of his time in South London.
He arrived at The Valley with a point to prove having struggled with Sunderland but quickly showed why he was held in such high regard at Walsall before his Black Cats stay.
Three seasons saw Dobson notch up 144 appearances for the Addicks. He held down a role in the middle of the park, chipping in with six goals and 11 assists while serving as a highly popular captain, leading by example in terms of his professionalism and ability.
As such, many expected him to move on when his deal expired, but it took a while for them to be some clarity for Dobson after the call to move on from Charlton Athletic.
The cancelled Hungary move
In the winter, it was announced that Dobson had agreed a pre-contract deal with Hungarian side Fehervar, a move that would see him head to Hungary’s top-flight upon the end of his Charlton Athletic contract.
However, questions continued over his future despite the binding terms of his agreement.
But, eventually, it emerged that Dobson had cancelled his deal with Fehervar and he would not be heading back to Europe after all. Instead, he would remain in League One to the surprise of many.
However, it was Wrexham – perhaps one of the few clubs ambitious and wealthy enough to keep him in the third-tier – who struck a deal to sign Dobson. He moved on a free transfer to join Phil Parkinson and co in their bid to keep rising through the leagues.
Success in North Wales
It was a turbulent summer for Dobson but he’s settled well at Wrexham and has since become a vital player. He’s forced his way into the starting XI and has stayed there too, despite the wealth of midfield talent at the Racecourse.
The former Charlton Athletic skipper has started all 15 League One games so far, missing only five minutes of football. He’s chipped in with two assists in the process as the Red Dragons push for promotion.
The Addicks haven’t found such joy, and there’s no doubt Dobson is a miss at The Valley.
