Former Sheffield Wednesday youngster Ryan Galvin is wanted by League One clubs amid his Halifax Town success, as per Pete O’Rourke.

Sheffield Wednesday had Ryan Galvin on the books for three-and-a-half years. SWFC signed the left-back from Wigan Athletic’s youth setup.

The defender impressed for the U21s and gained experience on loan at Gloucester City and Maidstone United alongside four outings for the Owls’ first-team. However, he was let go when his deal expired upon promotion to the Championship.

Galvin would drop to the National League with Halifax Town and he’s since been a standout player at the level.

Now, the former Sheffield Wednesday prospect is wanted back in the EFL.

Writing on X, reporter Pete O’Rourke says that League One sides are eyeing a free transfer move for Galvin. His performances for Halifax have caught the eye but with his deal up this summer, clubs are keen on a bargain deal for his services.

Scottish Premiership sides are also keen on the former SWFC youngster, who turned 24 in January.

Operating as a left-back, left wing-back or left-sided centre-back when called upon, Galvin has played 64 times for Halifax since moving on from Wednesday. Interest from higher leagues could offer him a chance at stepping back up after his drop into non-league.
