Luton Town lodge new transfer bid for 21-year-old

Luton Town have made a new bid worth in the region of £6million for Wycombe Wanderers striker Richard Kone, according to reporter Pete O’Rourke on X.

Luton Town are keen to lure the League One man to the Championship this winter. LTFC have until the end of the January transfer window to get their target.

Kone, 21, has scored 17 goals in all competitions so far this season, 14 of which have come in the league. He is under contract with Wycombe Wanderers until the summer of 2026.

In this latest update regarding his future this month by journalist O’Rourke on X, the Hatters have lodged a third offer for the player. They have seen their first two approaches knocked back.

Luton Town boss Matt Bloomfield knows all about Kone from managing him for the Chairboys. He is now keen to reunite at Kenilworth Road between now and the transfer deadline next Monday.

Wycombe Wanderers won’t want to lose Kone mid-way through a campaign as they eye promotion from the third tier.

Luton Town could see him as someone to bolster their attacking department.

He penned a new deal in November and Bloomfield told the Chairboys’ website at the time: “Rich has had a superb start to life as a professional footballer this year and he has huge potential to kick on and have a really successful career in the game, so we’re really pleased to extend his contract.

“This is a fantastic club for him to continue to develop his all-round game; he’s immensely popular with the fans and his team-mates and he’s in an environment which will help to get the best out of him.”

Kone played in non-league for Athletic Newham before he was snapped up by his current club.

He has adapted with ease to life in the Football League and is someone who his current club will be eager to retain the services of until the summer at least.

What now for Luton Town target Richard Kone?

It appears Luton Town are willing to spend big money on Kone.

The Hatters are in relegation battle and were beaten 1-0 at home by Millwall last time out.

They could do with adding some more quality into their squad.

Bloomfield was chosen as their replacement for Rob Edwards and it has been a tricky start for him in Bedfordshire.
