'New manager bounce' – Charlton Athletic vs Wigan Athletic prediction: The72

Charlton Athletic host Wigan Athletic at The Valley in League One this weekend in their upcoming fixture.
Charlton Athletic are sat in 4th place in the table as they eye promotion to the Championship. CAFC are inside the play-offs with Wrexham, Stockport County and Bolton Wanderers.
The Addicks have 10 fixtures left to play this season. They are five points inside the top six above Huddersfield Town in 7th and five off Wycombe Wanderers in 2nd.
Nathan Jones’ side won 1-0 away at Crawley Town last time out. Thierry Small got their winner against the Red Devils as they picked up another victory.
As for Wigan Athletic, they have appointed former Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End man Ryan Lowe as their new boss. WAFC have picked him as their replacement for Shaun Maloney.
The Liverpudlian will watch from the stands at The Valley on Saturday though. Glenn Whelan will take the game again for the Latics.
They won 1-0 against Cambridge United at home in their last outing. Left-back Luke Robinson was on the scoresheet.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Harry Mail
“Charlton Athletic are on a roll at the moment and have been flying high in League One. CAFC have only lost once in their last 12 games and that was to league leaders Birmingham City.
“The Addicks have kept three clean sheets in a row and are proving to be a tough nut to crack right now.
“Wigan Athletic will be in for a tough test down in London. WAFC may have the new manager bounce, even though Ryan Lowe won’t be on the touchline for this one.
“The Latics appear to have risen away from danger now and their campaign will start to fizzle out. I can’t see them getting anything at The Valley and fancy the hosts to get another victory.”
Prediction: Charlton Athletic 2-1 Wigan Athletic
James Ray
“Charlton Athletic are absolutely flying at the moment and all of a sudden, the automatic promotion places are not out of the question for CAFC. Nathan Jones deserves huge praise for getting his side to this position after a very underwhelming first half of the season.
“The Addicks will have to defy the new manager bounce to get a result though. Ryan Lowe is a very astute appointment from Wigan Athletic and I’m confident he’ll get them moving in the right direction, even if he’s not in the dugout here.
“The Latics could cause problems having been buoyed by a great managerial appointment, but all the momentum is with Charlton and I back them to maintain it.”
Prediction: Charlton Athletic 2-0 Wigan Athletic
