'No contact' – Preston North End transfer update regarding 20-year-old shared by reporter

Preston North End haven’t made contract with Charlton Athletic regarding Thierry Small, according to South London Press reporter Richard Cawley on X.
Preston North End have been linked with a move for the League One man by journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon. PNE have until the end of the January window to sign players.
Small, 20, is out of contract at the end of the season after seeing his deal extended by 12 months last summer. He is due to become available for nothing in late June unless he pens an extension.
In this latest update regarding his situation, Cawley has suggested on X that the Lilywhites haven’t been in touch with Charlton Athletic over a potential swoop.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side won 2-1 at home to promotion chasing Middlesbrough over the weekend in an impressive result at Deepdale. They are sat in 14th place in the table and are seven points off the play-offs.

Charlton Athletic won’t want to lose Small mid-way through a campaign.
He has recently said that he is in talks over a new deal, as per London News Online: “We’re still undergoing negotiations.”
He added: “I love it at Charlton. They have got a history of developing young players. Whatever happens in the future will be.
“Football is not easy. This league is not easy. We want fans to give us that extra support – when The Valley is rocking it is unbelievable. You can feel that momentum from the fans. It helps drive players on and get the best out of us.“
Charlton Athletic signed Small last winter to bolster their defensive ranks.
He was on the books at West Brom and Everton before linking up with Southampton back in 2021.
The youngster spent over three years with the Saints and went on to play once for their first-team as a teenager.
The ex-England youth international was loaned out by the Premier League side to Port Vale and St Mirren to get some experience under his belt.
Since joining Charlton Athletic on a permanent basis, Small has enjoyed plenty of game time.
What now for Preston North End-linked Thierry Small?
Cawley has said that Preston North End haven’t made an offer yet for the player.
It remains to be seen if they will between now and the deadline.
The Lilywhites face Blackburn Rovers away on Friday.
