Walsall are leading Lincoln City in the race for Nottingham Forest attacker Joe Gardner, according to a report by Football Insider.
Walsall are keen to land the forward before the end of the January transfer window on loan. They are currently sat top of the League Two table and are 12 points clear of Crewe Alexandra in 2nd place.
Gardner, 19, has caught the eye playing for Nottingham Forest’s Under-21’s so far this season. The high-flying Premier League side have a big decision on what to do with him for the second-half of this campaign amid attention from Football League clubs.
In this latest update regarding his situation, Football Insider claim the Saddlers are ahead of Lincoln City in pursuit of his signature at this stage. Mat Sadler’s men look well on their way to League One after their impressive term to date.
They have a vacancy to fill at the top end of the pitch though following Stoke City’s decision to recall Nathan Lowe.
