Oxford United have joined Lincoln City in the battle for Blackpool’s Jordan Gabriel, reporter Alan Nixon has said on his Patreon.

Oxford United are heading up to the Championship after just pipping Lincoln City to 6th place.

The U’s snuck into the League One play-off spots and after beating Peterborough United over two legs, they defeated Bolton Wanderers in the final at Wembley to book their place in the second-tier for the 2024/25 campaign.

It means an important summer transfer window lays ahead, and Des Buckingham’s side may face a battle with old foes Lincoln for one of their targets.

Writing on Patreon, reporter Alan Nixon has said that Oxford United have joined the Imps in the race for Blackpool right-back Jordan Gabriel. Lincoln City have had him lined up as a Lasse Sorensen replacement, but Buckingham could offer him a route back to the Championship.

Nixon notes that Gabriel is entering the last year of his contract, meaning he might be available on a ‘bargain’.
