A place in the third round is up for grabs against the Tangerines and that would be a chance to play against a Premier League or Championship side.

The Blues won 2-0 against Exeter City in their last League One match after goals by Jay Stansfield and Tomoki Iwata.

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

Birmingham City team news

As per a report by BirminghamLive, Alfons Sampsted, Scott Wright and Emil Hansson remain out of action for Birmingham City. Their boss Chris Davies has said: “Hansson will be back in training within weeks, Scott Wright the same and Sampsted the same, he’ll be away for a few weeks as he picked up an injury on international duty. They’re not with us yet. I’d hope to have them back before Christmas. They’re not long-term things but they’re going to take a bit more time.”

Starting XI

Peacock-Farrell, Gardner-Hickman, Sanderson, Davies, Cochrane; Leonard, Iwata; Harris, Yokoyama; May, Dykes

Bailey Peacock-Farrell has an opportunity to start in goal ahead of Ryan Allsop. The former Leeds United and Burnley man has lost his place between the sticks over recent times.

Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Dion Sanderson may get the chance to get some game time against Blackpool. They aren’t regular starters in the league and will be eager to show what they can do if they do start.

Ben Davies battles it out for a place in the team along with Christoph Klarer and Krystian Bielik, whilst Alex Cochrane is likely to get the nod against at left-back and he has impressed since his summer switch from Hearts.

In midfield, Marc Leonard is expected to play and he has had to bide his time for an opportunity ahead of Paik Seung-ho and Iwata.

Davies may look to freshen up his attacking ranks and bring in Fulham loanee Luke Harris and Ayumu Yokoyama. They will both be looking to cause the Tangerines some issues.

Further up the pitch, Birmingham City snapped up Lyndon Dykes from QPR in the last transfer window and the Scotland international will be keen on adding more goals to his tally.

Davies then needs to pick between the likes of Stansfield and Alfie May and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him change things.
