Plymouth Argyle make bid for player wanted by Preston North End and Swansea City

Plymouth Argyle have made a bid for Wycombe Wanderers defender Joe Low, according to reporter Pete O’Rourke on X.
Plymouth Argyle are keen on luring the centre-back up to the Championship this winter from League One. They are currently sat bottom of the table as they look to stay up.
Low, 22, has caught the eye playing in the third tier over recent times with Wycombe Wanderers. He has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season and has chipped in with four goals for Matt Bloomfield’s side.
In this latest update regarding his situation by journalist O’Rourke on X, the Pilgrims have made an offer for his services. He also mentions the fact Swansea City lodged an approach recently as well and he is wanted by other teams as well.
Preston North End are also interested in landing the player before the end of the month, according to Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.
Plymouth Argyle target defender
Plymouth Argyle could see Low as someone to boost their defensive department.
They sold Lewis Gibson to Preston North End last week and have a vacancy to fill.
Wycombe Wanderers signed Low in July last year and he has since become one of their most prized assets.
He rose up through the academy ranks at Bristol City and was a regular for them at various youth levels.
The Wales international, who has two caps under his belt so far for his country, signed his first professional contract at Ashton Gate back in 2020.
Low went on to play twice for the Robins’ first-team and was loaned out by the second tier outfit to the likes of Frome Town, Dorchester Town, Yate Town, Eastleigh and Walsall to get some experience under his belt.
He spent time with the latter in League Two before he was sold on a permanent basis to Wycombe Wanderers and hasn’t looked back since.
What now?
Low has been on the radar of Preston North End and Swansea City but Plymouth Argyle hope to steal a march on the duo.
It would be a shame for Wycombe Wanderers to lose Low, especially this winter, as they eye promotion along with Birmingham City and Wrexham.
The Pilgrims would be able to offer him the chance to get some regular game time in the league above though. They drew 2-2 at home to Bristol City over the weekend.
