'Running out of time' – Lincoln City vs Huddersfield Town prediction: The72

Huddersfield Town head to Lincoln City in midweek looking to keep their play-off hopes alive after defeat at the weekend.

Huddersfield Town have not lived up to expectations this season after relegation last year. Many thought they would be in the automatic promotion battle, but currently HTAFC sit outside the play-off places.

Town remain managerless after Michael Duff was sacked earlier this month. Jon Worthington is taking the side in the interim, winning one and losing the other of his two games.

They were beaten handsomely at the weekend as Charlton Athletic stuck four past Huddersfield Town. The Terriers will have been disappointed to be beaten by a side they could face in the play-offs.

Their opponents Lincoln City have had a fairly mediocre campaign. The Imps had started the season very well but have drifted away as it has gone on.

They currently sit in 12th place and are safe from relegation but remain 12 points adrift of the top six. The rest of their campaign will be all about next season and gathering some momentum.

Lincoln were also beaten at the weekend as they lost 1-0 to 3rd place Wycombe Wanderers. They were fairly solid in the game but one mistake gifted Cameron Humphreys the only goal of the game.

“Huddersfield Town need to be winning games like these at this stage of the season. If they want to finish in the top six they need to get some consistent form at the right time.

“This is a bit of a free hit for Lincoln City though. They would need a miracle to get into the play-offs and will be going into games with very little pressure.

“With that said I think this will be a draw. HTAFC do not look up to it and barring a big reaction from the weekend I cant see them beating a decent Lincoln side.”

Prediction: Lincoln City 1-1 Huddersfield Town

“Huddersfield Town were battered at the weekend and they have to bounce back here. They’re running out of time to turn their season around and against Lincoln City, they could be in for a challenge.

“The Imps haven’t been able to threaten at the top end of the table this season but they’ve shown how dangerous they can be at times. And, against a wounded animal in HTAFC, there’s every chance they go and put a few past the Terriers if the visitors play like they did against Charlton.

“It’s a tough game to call but ultimately, the visitors need it more. That sways me towards a Huddersfield win, but this could go either way.”
