Birmingham City head to the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday night to face Huddersfield Town in their upcoming League One clash.

Birmingham City drew 1-1 away at Wrexham in their last outing. Striker Lyndon Dykes scored the goal for BCFC at the Racecourse Ground.

Chris Davies’ side are sat top of the table as they eye an immediate promotion back to the Championship. They were relegated from the second tier last year after finishing in the bottom three along with Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town.

The Blues have the chance to bring in some new faces before the end of the window. They also have the opportunity to let some players leave.

As for Huddersfield Town, they were beaten 1-0 at home by Bolton Wanderers over the weekend. They weren’t able to find an equaliser against the Trotters.

The Terriers are 4th in the league and are inside the play-offs with Wrexham, Stockport County and Barnsley. Michael Duff was appointed as their manager last summer and he has had spells in the past at Cheltenham Town, Barnsley and Swansea City.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

Birmingham City should be too strong for Huddersfield Town if they show up and play to their best. I fancy them to sneak a win here if they play to their maximum.

“The Blues have strength in depth all over the pitch and can afford to make changes for this one to freshen things up.

“The Terriers haven’t been in bad form recently and their loss to Bolton Wanderers was their first defeat in 16 league outings.

“Michael Duff’s side will be up there come the end of the season but I can see them losing to BCFC here.”

Prediction: Huddersfield Town 1-2 Birmingham City

“That defeat to Bolton Wanderers was Huddersfield Town’s first for a while. Michael Duff will be eager to get a quick response out of his side, but a tie against promotion favourites Birmingham City means it won’t be easy.

“The Blues keep chugging along in the bid to return to the Championship at the first time of asking and while a win over Wrexham would have been big, a draw does no harm either.

“Huddersfield showed a tendency to be a little streaky earlier this season, so I’m not sure whether the end of their unbeaten run might lead to a minor slide. A loss here is nothing to panic about, but it will be vital they respond well and put up a good fight.

“I reckon they do that, but BCFC take all three points.”
