Swansea City make new bid for League One star as Plymouth Argyle and Preston circle

Swansea City have lodged a new bid for Wycombe Wanderers centre-back Joe Low, according to reporter Pete O’Rourke.
Swansea City are hoping to enjoy a productive January transfer window as they look to kick on in 2025.
The Swans sit 12th in the Championship table, six points away from the play-off spots and seven clear of the bottom three. While many may be expecting a campaign in mid-table, the change of ownership has brought new hope to South Wales.
There’s a desire to back Luke Williams in the transfer market and it seems one man firmly on the radar is Wycombe Wanderers defender Joe Low.
Reports have said Swansea City had already seen one bid turned down and now, reporter Pete O’Rourke has said on X that a second offer has gone in for the Wales international. He reiterates recent claims that fellow Championship sides Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End are interested in the former Bristol City man too.
Low has been a mainstay for League One high-flyers Wycombe Wanderers and having impressed in the third-tier, he’s widely expected to move back to the Championship in the future.
The 22-year-old left Bristol City for the Chairboys in 2023 after a number of loans away from Ashton Gate.
Swansea’s centre-back options
Swansea City could certainly do with another option at the heart of defence this month.
They only Harry Darling and Ben Cabango on the books as senior centre-back options and the latter is currently sidelined with a groin injury. As such, Cyrus Christie filled in alongside Darling against West Brom at the weekend.
Kyle Naughton has played as a centre-back in a back three before, as has Kristian Pedersen, but Williams desperately needs another natural option there.
Time will tell if they can bring Low in, but Wycombe Wanderers will be looking to hold firm and even if they aren’t completely against a sale, the Swans face competition for his services.
Another blow for Wycombe
Wycombe Wanderers may well be victims of their remarkable season in the January transfer window.
They’ve already seen two loan stars recalled with Bolton Wanderers bringing back Aaron Morley and defender Caleb Taylor returning to West Brom. Combining the latter with a Low sale would rip apart a key section of their flourishing team.
Swansea City will be hoping to pounce though, with fingers crossed that their second bid is more successful than their first.
