'Why I came here' – Stockport County man explains reason for January move

Stockport County loanee Brad Hills has said he joined them to get promoted to the Championship.
Stockport County landed the defender on loan from Norwich City in the January transfer window. He is due to return to Carrow Road at the end of the season.
Hills, 21, was voted the Hatters’ Player of the Month for February by their supporters. He has made a positive impression since his switch to the North West.
He has said on BBC Radio Norfolk’s The Scrimmage podcast (via BBC Sport): “I feel like Stockport do try and play and that’s how I want to play. That’s where I’m best suited, on the ball and getting it moving. Sometimes it’s hard in the league with the pitches and the teams we are playing against.
“We are capable of being up there and we are there. That’s the aim and that’s why I came here in the first place, to get promoted.”
He added: “I just want to keep myself in the team, keep building on performances and take that into next season. I just come here and do my thing and see where it takes me. At the minute, I’m lucky enough I’m playing so I know if I play my best game, I’ve got every best chance of playing each week.”
Stockport County’s Brad Hills impact
Stockport County signed Hills to boost their defensive ranks and he has adapted well to life with Dave Challinor’s side.
He has made eight appearances for the Hatters so far and will be eyeing more before the campaign ends.
The centre-back has risen up through the academy at Norwich City and has been a regular for the Canaries at various different youth levels.
Hills penned a three-year deal with the East Anglian club back in 2022 and that has since been extended to 2027 meaning he still has two years left to run.
The Norwich-born man has played five times for the first-team of his local team so far in his career.
He was given the green light to head out the exit door on a temporary basis for the first time when Accrington Stanley came calling in 2023.
The England youth international, who has represented the Three Lions at Under-20 level, played 48 matches for Stanley and chipped in with three goals.
What now for Stockport County?
As Hills alluded to, Stockport County want to go up to the second tier.
They are sat in 5th place in the table and face Wrexham this weekend.
