Wigan Athletic man wanted by National League side

Wigan Athletic striker Josh Stones is attracting interest ahead of the January transfer window, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on X.

Wigan Athletic’s youngster is currently out on loan in the National League with Oldham Athletic. His temporary deal with the Latics expires next month.

Stones, 21, was given the green light to move to Boundary Park to get some more experience under his belt. He has since scored three goals in four games for the North West outfit, as well as chipping in with a single assist.

In this latest update regarding his future this winter, reporter O’Rourke has claimed on X that he is a wanted man at the moment. York City are said to be ‘long-term admirers’ of the player as they eye promotion back to the Football League.

The Minstermen are currently sat 2nd in the table behind Barnet and are two points behind the Bees.
