Wigan Athletic ready to battle League One rivals in pursuit of Stoke City fringe man

Stoke City striker Niall Ennis is attracting interest from Wigan Athletic, as per a report from Football League World.
Stoke City signed striker Niall Ennis in the winter of 2024, bringing him in from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers. He reunited with former boss Steven Schumacher at SCFC having starred under his watch at Plymouth Argyle.
Unfortunately, after struggling to make the step up to the Championship at Ewood Park, Ennis’ impact with the Potters was limited too. That combined with Schumacher’s departure left him way down the pecking order in the winter window and a loan to Blackpool was duly agreed.
However, Ennis’ fine form with the Tangerines has put him back on radars as a reliable League One goalscorer and amid interest in a permanent deal from Blackpool, Wigan Athletic are ready to make it a battle for his signature.
According to Football League World, the Stoke City loanee is a potential summer target for the Latics. They have been impressed by his form and are exploring a possible deal as a result.
On loan away from SCFC, the 25-year-old has managed six goals and an assist in 14 League One games for Blackpool since his signing late in January.
