Wigan Athletic are targeting a move for Accrington Stanley defender Connor O’Brien, according to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.

Wigan Athletic are interested in luring the right-back to The Brick Community Stadium in the upcoming January transfer window. The player has caught their eye in League Two over recent times and has emerged on their radar.

O’Brien, 20, has broken into Accrington Stanley’s first-team recenlty and is being tipped for a bright future in the game. He has made 14 league appearances in all competitions so far this season and is a key member of John Doolan’s squad.

In this latest update regarding his situation in Lancashire, journalist Nixon has claimed on Patreon the Latics are keeping tabs on his development and are weighing up a move. His contract expires in the summer of 2026 meaning his current club are under no pressure just yet to cash in on him.
