Wrexham paid £590,000 to sign Mo Faal from West Brom, winger James McClean has said on The Fozcast Live.

Wrexham had another busy summer transfer window as they prepared for the jump to League One.

The Red Dragons are now at a level more aligned with the star power they have had in their squad for the past two years. It has helped them enjoy a fantastic start to the campaign, claiming 16 points from seven games and losing to only big-spenders Birmingham City.

It was hardly a shrewd window in North Wales either. Deals for the likes of Ollie Rathbone, Dan Scarr, Lewis Brunt and more all will have required fees as they were under contract with other clubs.

The same goes for Mo Faal, who Wrexham brought in from West Brom.

Now, it has emerged how much was paid to bring him in. As per the Fearless in Devotion podcast, Red Dragons star James McClean revealed while on The Fozcast Live that the Gambian starlet cost £590,000.

McClean appeared as a guest on former ‘keeper Ben Foster’s live edition of his podcast back in Wrexham.

While said to be a ‘club record’ fee, it remains unknown what the record is. Earlier this summer, it was said that the deal for midfielder Rathbone had taken the title as it usurped the £300,000 paid for Ollie Palmer, but it is not known whether it comes in at above the £590,000 splashed out on Faal.
