Wrexham player to return in the summer amid latest loan development
Today at 05:55 AM
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has said Jordan Davies will be ‘staying’ at Grimsby Town for the rest of this season.
Wrexham have decided not to recall the midfielder from his loan spell with the League Two side.
Davies, 26, has made 15 appearances in all competitions so far this season and has chipped in with three goals and one assist.
In this latest update regarding his situation, Parkinson has said, as per a report by the Evening Leader: “Jordan’s staying at Grimsby. The injury was a blow because he had a brilliant start, getting those two goals. The injury set him back but he’s been part of the team which has done well this season so far and it’s good for Jordan.
“Jordan was at a stage in his career where he needed to go and play, and he would have played a lot more without his injury. He needs to be involved and it’s an important second part of the season for him. Now he’s got a chance to get as many starts as he can from now until the end of he season and make an impact.”
Wrexham latest regarding Jordan Davies
Wrexham let Davies link up with Grimsby Town on a temporary basis to get some more game time.
His contract expires at the end of this campaign and the Red Dragons have a big decision to make regarding his future. He is due to become a free agent in the summer as things stand.
He started his career at Wrexham and rose up through their academy ranks as a youngster.
The former Wales youth international, who represented his country at Under-17 and Under-19 levels, was loaned out to Bangor City to get some experience under his belt.
Davies was lured away from the Racecourse Ground as a teenager by Brighton and Hove Albion in 2017.
He then spent three years at the AMEX Stadium but never played for the Seagulls’ first-team.
Wrexham brought him back home in 2020 and he has since helped them rise from the National League to League One.
Davies has made 142 appearances in all competitions for the Welsh club and has scored 37 goals.
His game time dried up a bit last term though and he was limited to only 17 outings, hence why he was allowed to depart.
What now?
Davies will stick around with Grimsby Town until his loan ends.
Wrexham will monitor how he does. In the meantime, their focus is also on promotion to the Championship and they face Shrewsbury Town next.
