Bradford City boss Graham Alexander has said the club have ‘put some feelers out’ in the free agent market amid a centre-back shortage.

Bradford City were pretty active on the transfer front in the summer transfer window but at this early stage in the season, their ranks have been left looking pretty light.

The Bantams have managed a respectable 11 points from seven games, but they will be out to rise from their 8th place standing given their promotion ambitions this season. As such, an early player shortage is far from ideal.

At centre-back, all of Aden Baldwin, Ciaran Kelly and Neill Byrne have been forced to the sidelines. Further forward in attacking midfield, Graham Alexander is without Antoni Sarcevic and Joe Adams.

Now, after admitting that Bradford City were open to free agent signings last week, Alexander has confirmed more concrete movement.

As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the City boss said that the club have ‘put some feelers out’ in the pursuit of players without a club, some of which have been spoken to directly. He said:

“We put some feelers out (last week) and spoke to a couple of people.

“But we are just going to wait to see where Aden and Byrne are out and when they join back into training. But it’s not just that position, but another where we feel we are a little bit light on.

“With Joe and Sarce missing, that’s where we’re in a similar position. We’re just being observant and making sure we are ready if we do have to make a move.”
