Port Vale are in talks with Crystal Palace attacker Jemiah Umolu over a potential loan move, according to a report by London News Online.

Port Vale are keen on luring the forward to Vale Park for the second-half of the season. They are currently sat in 4th place in the table and are a point behind both Crewe Alexandra and Salford City.

Umolu, 19, has been in decent form for Crystal Palace’s Under-21’s in this campaign. He has scored 10 goals in 13 games in all competitions, nine of which have come in Premier League 2.

In this latest update regarding his situation at Selhurst Park, London News Online claim he is in discussions with the Valiants over a possible temporary switch.

Darren Moore’s side were relegated from League One last term along with Fleetwood Town, Carlisle United and Cheltenham Town and they are eyeing an immediate return to the third tier.

Port Vale could see Umolu as someone to add more competition and depth to their attacking ranks.

He would give them something different at the top end of the pitch as they look to return to the top three.

The youngster has been scoring goals for fun for Crystal Palace’s development squad and should be in confident mood.

Umolu rose up through the academy ranks at West Ham and progressed through their academy.

He represented the Hammers at various different youth levels before heading out the exit door last year.

The Eagles initially had a look at him on trial before deciding to offer him a contract in July.

After securing his switch to South London, he told the club website: “It’s an amazing feeling to sign my first professional contract with such a big club, I’m ready to hit the ground running.

“I played a good couple games for the U21s, I played against Stoke and managed to get an assist and obviously I played in the semi-final of the International Cup where I got two assists and a goal. I’m just really excited to get going with the team.”

What now?

Port Vale want him and a move to Vale Park would suit all parties involved.

It would give him a chance to get some valuable experience under his belt.

Moore’s side face Barrow this weekend following their away win at Doncaster Rovers last time out.
