Bradford City loanee Olly Sanderson has returned to Fulham, as announced by their official club website.

Bradford City landed the attacker in the summer to boost their attacking ranks. He was due to spend the whole season at BCAFC but his deal has now been cut short this winter.

Sanderson, 21, was given the green light to head out the exit door on a temporary basis by Fulham to get some more experience under his belt. He went on to play 18 games for the Graham Alexander’s side in all competitions, 13 of which came in the league, and he scored three goals.

In this latest update regarding his situation, the Bantams have confirmed that he has gone back to Craven Cottage. They have subsequently swooped to land Michael Mellon on loan from Burnley to step into his place following his recent spell up in League One at Stockport County.

Bradford City loan update regarding Olly Sanderson

Bradford City brought in Sanderson to give them something different up top.

Fulham now have a big decision to make on what to do with him for the rest of this term. His contract with the Premier League outfit expires in June 2026.

After joining the Bantams in August, he told their website: “I am really happy to be here and am looking forward to getting started.

“I had a really positive chat with the gaffer who really sold this place to me, with his ambitions and what he wants to do here. As soon as I had that chat, my mind was set on coming here.

“He wants to get promoted. This is too big of a club to be in this league and I really want to be a part of that push for promotion.”

Sanderson has been on the books at Fulham for his whole career to date and has risen up through their academy ranks.

He has never played for their first-team but has been loaned out in the past to Oxford City and Sutton United.

The Chichester-born man spent time with the latter last season in the fourth tier and scored four goals in 20 matches.

What now?

Time will tell whether Fulham end up sending Sanderson somewhere else now.

Bradford City are back in action 18th January with an away trip to Carlisle United.

They are sat in 8th place in the table and are two points off the play-offs.
