Blackburn Rovers loanee Dilan Markanday is determined to forge a future at Ewood Park after heading out on a new loan in the summer.

Blackburn Rovers signed young winger Dilan Markanday from Tottenham Hotspur in the winter of 2022, snapping him up amid eye-catching displays for the Premier League club’s U21s.

The London-born prospect has had a challenging time at Ewood Park to date. He’s found chances in and around the first-team but minutes have been limited for the most part.

Markanday spent time with Aberdeen in 2023 and ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, it was decided he would head out on loan again. League Two new boys Chesterfieldbrought him in, and the 23-year-old has caught the eye with his impressive displays.

The Blackburn Rovers loanee has five goals and two assists to his name in 13 League Two outings. He’s impressed both in his natural role won the right-wing and centrally as an attacking midfielder.

Markanday sees his deal at Ewood Park run out in 2025, and amid his uphill battle for a senior role, questions have been asked over what next year could hold for him. However, the ex-Spurs prospect is determined to forge a career with the Lancashire club.

Blackburn Rovers have an option to extend the winger’s stay, and Markanday is confident contract matters will sort itself as he looks to become a success with the club.

“I’ve always been a believer that if you’re producing the goods, other things take care of themselves,” he said to the Lancashire Telegraph.

“The contract stuff will sort itself, if I’m playing well.

“I want to come back to Blackburn and be a big player there. It is not something massively on my mind. Anything can happen in football, I’m not dwelling on it.”
