Portsmouth will ‘most likely’ look to find a new loan club for Anthony Scully after his return from Colchester United, John Mousinho says.
Portsmouth looked to have made a shrewd signing when they recruited forward Anthony Scully from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2023.
The former West Ham youngster had endured a tough stay with the Latics but returning to the level he thrived at with Lincoln City, many backed him to get back on track with Pompey.
However, his time at Fratton Park hasn’t panned out as hoped yet. Scully has had a hard time with injuries and amid a drop down the pecking order and the club’s promotion to the Championship, a loan move to Colchester United was sanctioned in the summer.
Unfortunately, injury has hit again and Scully is back with Portsmouth. It is expected that his loan will officially be cut short in January having returned to have an ankle plate removed following only nine appearances for Danny Cowley’s side.
Now, Pompey boss Mousinho has confirmed to The News that they will likely look to find a new loan for Scully when January comes around.
“Most likely we will look to get him out on loan in January,” the Portsmouth chief said.
“But the only important thing for us at the moment is Anthony’s health and making sure he’s back, fit and ready to go again.
“If we can find him a loan club in January, we will try to do that.”
