Sheffield Wednesday considering offer for Bradford City prospect

Sheffield Wednesday have brought Freddy Jeffreys in on trial and could offer him a contract, according to The Star.
Sheffield Wednesday are in a position of limbo in the January transfer window. Signings are needed, but there looks to have been a completely breakdown in communication between SWFC owner Dejphon Chansiri and manager Danny Rohl.
It has cast their ability to get signings though the door into serious doubt. Additions are a must too, with the Owls in a position to potentially push for a play-off spot.
New first-team players would be the priority, but the Steel City club are always looking for opportunities to add to their esteemed youth ranks too.
Now, as reported by The Star, Sheffield Wednesday are considering a move for a new prospect.
They state that young midfielder Freddy Jeffreys has been in on trial at the SWFC training ground this week. The club are now weighing up the offer of a contract and is hoping for an extended stay to prove his abilities.
Jeffreys saw his deal at Bradford City expire at the end of last season but after suffering a serious hamstring injury on loan at Elgin City, a short-term deal was offered. It seems his future may lay away from Valley Parade though.
More on Jeffreys
At 19, Jeffreys is still very much in the formative years of his career. After working his way through the academy of his hometown club Bradford City, the midfielder joined Elgin City in Scotland last February, playing six times and scoring one goal before injury hit.
The Sheffield Wednesday trialist played twice for the Bantams’ first-team before then, both coming in the EFL Trophy. He came on off the bench against Grimsby Town for his debut for a maiden start against Manchester City’s youngsters.
A new chapter could now await the midfielder, with SWFC considering a move for his services as a future away from Valley Parade seemingly lays ahead.
The month ahead
While transfer uncertainty rumbles on, Rohl will be doing all he can to keep his Sheffield Wednesday players focused on the task at hand.
Up next is a tough task, with the Owls travelling to Elland Road to face Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.
A quick turnaround to afce Bristol City on Wednesday night follows, before SWFC end the month’s fixtures with a trip to QPR next weekend.
They sit 10th in the Championship table as it stands and will be eager to maintain a strong position.
