Sunderland will review Matty Young’s loan situation at Salford City in the January transfer window, according to reporter Alan Nixon on Patreon.

Sunderland will weigh up what to do with the goalkeeper this winter and could recall him. He was given the green light to link up with the Ammies this past summer to get some experience under his belt in the Football League.

Young, 17, is highly-rated by the Black Cats and is being tipped for a bright future in the game. However, he has been limited to only cup appearances for the Ammies so far this season under the guidance of former MK Dons, Charlton Athletic and Oxford United boss Karl Robinson.

In this latest update, journalist Nixon has claimed on his Patreon that Regis Le Bris’ side will make a decision on what to do with him in a couple of months time. He adds that the player may drop into non-league on a temporary basis to get some minutes.
