Bradford City boss Graham Alexander has said they will ‘assess’ Antoni Sarcevic ahead of the weekend.

Bradford City will make checks on their summer signing and decide whether to throw him back in as they prepare to face Swindon Town at Valley Parade.

Sarcevic, 32, made the switch to Yorkshire in July and has since been limited to only four appearances so far this season due to injury, three of which have come in League Two.

Alexander has shared this update regarding his situation, as per a report by The Telegraph & Argus: “We’ll assess how he is and make that judgement call whether to involve him on Saturday. We’ve been reasonably patient with all the injured players. We took out time with Aden Baldwin, Ciaran Kelly and Patto (Alex Pattison) because we couldn’t lose them again. That would be a nightmare. We still want to be patient with Sarce but he’s desperate to be involved. That’s why he was at Stockport with us.”

Having Sarcevic back would be a big boost for Bradford City.

He was snapped up by the Bantams following the end of his contract at Stockport County to add more competition and depth to their ranks.

The Mancunian was a hit during his time at the Hatters and helped them rise from the National League to League One.

The former England C international has played 97 games for the North West outfit in all competitions and chipped in with 18 goals and 10 assists.

Prior to his switch to Edgeley Park, he had spells at Crewe Alexandra, Chester, Fleetwood TownShrewsbury TownPlymouth Argyle and Bolton Wanderers. He spent a year-and-half with the latter, finding the net 11 times during 52 outings.

He has been promoted from the fourth tier on four occasions in the past and that know-how will come in handy for the Bantams now he is nearly back.

What now?

Bradford City are currently sat in 11th place in the table as they look to get into the play-offs.

They are five points off the top seven after their first 18 fixtures.

The Bantams drew 1-1 away at Crewe Alexandra last weekend in their most recent league outing with Alex Pattison on the scoresheet. He was later sent off in the game and is now suspended.

Alexander’s men then won 3-2 against Stockport County in the EFL Trophy.
