Chuba Akpom moved from Middlesbrough to Ajax in 2023 and has been linked with a return to English football in every transfer window since.

At times, he’s faced some stiff critics in the Netherlands, but that isn’t unusual given Dutch pundits aren’t shy when sharing negative opinions on players… with everything multiplied when it comes to Ajax.

One of the clubs to have been linked this month is Sunderland, although there were claims a few days ago that Akpom didn’t fancy a move to the Championship club.

De Telegraaf report on Tuesday evening that Leicester City and Marseille are now also ‘very concrete’ for the striker, with Sunderland thrown into the mix again.

It’s stated Sunderland had wanted to loan Akpom, and it’s not made clear the formulas of a transfer Leicester City and Marseille are looking at.

The 29-year-old has made 31 appearances for Ajax so far this season, but he rarely completes the full 90 minutes for the Amsterdam club. In around 1500 minutes across all competitions he’s scored eight goals.

One to keep an eye on for Leicester City, Sunderland and Marseille fans.
