Ben Petty left the club in the summer to become assistant manager at Birmingham. He had been in charge of the u.21 set up for a while, with Adam Barradell handling the u.18’s. Barradell is still at the club.

Robert Huth is one uncertain, as his job looks to be one for hire, with the club searching for a new loan manager. Nothing said about the former German international and Leicester PL winner.

Leon McSweenie is accordingly the current assistant manager for the U.21’s. McSweenie is a former player who was for a number of seasons part of the reserves set up at the club, but moved to other clubs and had a proper career with clubs such as Stockport, Orient, Carlisle and Northampton among others. He is 40 years of age.

No head coach is at this point appointed, so this is a mixed bag at the moment, at times also being managed by Ben Dawson, who arrived in the summer to be part of the first team staff. Dawson had before this move been academy director at Newcastle.

Despite this unsettling situation with so many different roles a bit up in the air, the teams have been in good shape and done well, often getting good results against good opposition. The u.21 team is often playing younger players and they looks to settle in well.

For many years it was a settled group of people in charge, with a certain Steven Beaglehole at the helm. Leicester did produce good players coming through such as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Ben Chilwell, Harvey Barnes, Hamza Choudhury, Kasey McAteer, Daniel Iversen, Callum Elder as well Calvin Bassey, Cedric Kipre and Josh Knight, just to mention a few that has and have great careers in football.

The bridge between the first team and the academy is one very crucial as the club builds on those relations to get the best out of their own players.

We will give you more updates when the roles looks more settled than they are at the moment.
