Alan Birchenall is an institution at Leicester, first joining as a player back in 1971, coming in from Crystal Palace. He played a total of 163 league games, scoring 12 goals. He left the club in 1977, to join Notts County.

The Birch returned to the club in the 80’s and has been around the block since. His job as an club ambassador has been cherished from owners, who ever they were.

To see Sir Alex being dismissed is something you thought was impossible and the reactions around are all negative, Eric Cantona calling it a scandal, as the easy cleaners continues to surprise people.

Leicester ownership has over the years been seen as heroes among fans, and they have stood by 79 year old Alan Birchenall, still around for his matchday duties, as his column in the match programme is still in place.

The symbolism might be what makes The Birch and Sir Alex similar, but in favour of the Man Utd owners, the money paid is a major difference between the two heroes, but there should in all fairness be other things to change, before you start to break down the furniture.

Hopefully some sort of arrgengement will be made so that the club owners and Sir Alex both can go on, but we do feel and understand that at 83 years of age, it might be a time for everything.

The Birch will probably also step down, but still hopefully being done in proper manner and with a smile on everyone faces and not grab the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The game is not just about winning football games every week, of course being the most important in a professional setting, but still you need to look further and be gentle in your decisions making, if not the most important people will turn and see you as a devil, and not one that will bring success to your football club.

Leicester as a club is something very special, being proper in difficult times, always having a gentle answer, not upsetting people. As a visitor from abroad, you always feel welcomed and as you have seen, they do become special in the way they behave. Sometimes things can be difficult, but in a way it all comes out in positives.
