Sad news as two ex Leicester players dies this week bringing joy to the club in different decades of the past

Receiving the news of the death of Kevin Campbell earlier today, shows us all how fast things can change. We had heard him being ill and taken to hospital earlier, but to see him passing at the age of only 54, was one we did not look forward to.

On the 12th of June we learned of the passing of Willie Carlin, who as Kevin Campbell had a short part of his career at Leicester. Carlin had reached a grown tally of age, just passed his 83 year birthday.

Kevin Campbell came to Leicester on loan from Arsenal, and build a path on his way during that 1989-90 season, scoring 5 goals in 11 league outings. He later had his breakthrough at Highbury as he became pivotal in his season at Arsenal, playing a total of 163 league games, scoring 49 goals. He is one of few footballers to have won the three domestic competitions in English football, The League (90/91), The FA Cup (92-93) and The League Cup (92-93). After his time at Arsenal he moved on to play for Nottingham Forest, Trabzonspor, Everton, West Bromwich and Cardiff, keeping it going until 2007. Later in life he has worked at Sky Sports as a pundit as well running a record label company.

Willie Carlin also had a short time at Leicester, being at the club for a year, playing an important role during the 1970/71 season, seeing Leicester promoted as champions. Carlin started his career at Liverpool, but had to move on to Halifax to gain regular first team football. He climbed the league ladders, leaving The Shaymen for Carlisle in 1964, and from there had a rapic journey updwards playing for Sheffield United and Derby, before his time at Filbert Street. After his one year at Leicester, later having spells at Notts County and Cardiff.

Later in life Carlin resided in Allestree, Derbyshire, after a number of years running a bar on Majorca.
