Adi Hütter: 'Monaco can make a big step towards Champions League qualification.'
With ten points (three wins, one draw) from their first four UEFA Champions League games, AS Monaco’s place in the top 24, synonymous with a place in the play-off round, is likely already assured. That is at least according to pre-tournament predictions, although given that this is a new model, it is impossible to be sure.
However, with Monaco currently third in the Champions League standings, there could be a chance to secure what would be a surprise top-eight spot. Adi Hütter, however, isn’t getting ahead of himself. “We are in a good position but we can make a big step towards qualification tomorrow (Wednesday),” began Hütter, previewing the match against Benfica, who according to the Austrian are “under more pressure” going into the tie, given their 19th-place standing.
In a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, he added, “Everyone knows our next four opponents (Benfica, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Inter Milan). We can’t wait to come up against them. Benfica are on an eight-game winning run in the league, including a fantastic 4-1 win over Porto, but we have won our last three games.”
