Al Shabab in advanced talks to sign Rennes midfielder Glen Kamara

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab are currently in advanced talks to sign Stade Rennais midfielder Glen Kamara (29). The former Leeds United and Glasgow Rangers midfielder could be set to leave Rennes only six months after signing for the club, with interest coming earlier in the window from Premier League pair Southampton FC and Ipswich Town.

Kamara has only made 13 appearances since joining Rennes last summer in a €10m move from Leeds United, and was one of the players left out by new manager Jorge Sampaoli following SDR’s Coupe de France exit against Ligue 2 side ESTAC Troyes.

Rennes are trying to re-jig their squad after a challenging first half of the season which has seen them enter serious trouble at the bottom of Ligue 1. Les Rouge et Noir currently sit in the relegation play-off zone in 16th, with fellow strugglers Montpellier only sat three points behind in the relegation zone proper.
