FC Girondins de Bordeaux secured a big coup earlier this week, completing the shock signing of former England international Andy Carroll (35) from Ligue 2 side SC Amiens. He made an immediate impact on his debut in the National 2.

Bordeaux were forced to renounce this professional status earlier this summer after suffering bankruptcy. They are now trying to rebuild and climb back up the divisions as an amateur side. From the National 2, they have a long way to go. So far this season, Les Girondins are yet to secure a win since being demoted to the fourth tier of French football, but new signing Carroll did at least secure them a point on Saturday.

With Bordeaux 2-0 down at home to Voltigeurs de Chateaubriant, Carroll netted a low volley at the back post in the 72nd minute before heading home in the 88th minute from a corner to secure a 2-2 draw.
