AS Monaco's Vanderson suffering with hip issue

AS Monaco played their first pre-season friendly on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Swiss side Servette at their performance centre in La Turbie. That narrow defeat came in the absence of full-back Vanderson (23). Adi Hütter divulged the reason for his absence post-match.

Many of Monaco’s first-team players are absent, either at Euro 2024 or at the ongoing Copa América. However, that is not the reason for Vanderson’s absence, with the former Grêmio full-back missing out on the Brazil squad for the tournament.

His absence is down to an injury. “He’s injured; we’re preparing him to be fit for the new season,” revealed Monaco manager Adi Hütter in a post-match interview, attended by Get French Football News. The Austrian specified that Vanderson was suffering with a hip injury. No timeline has been given for his return. The Ligue 1 season begins on the weekend of 16th August and Monaco will be hoping that Vanderson, linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, will be fit enough to feature.
