Christopher Nkunku (27) has struggled to reach the levels that he showed during his time at RB Leipzig since arriving at Chelsea in 2023. The France international was bought for €62 million but during his season and a half in London has not yet justified his price tag.
Multiple serious injuries disrupted his debut campaign with Chelsea ruling him out for 36 matches across all competitions, while in his second season, he has so far avoided these problems but has not managed to find consistent game time.
His head coach Enzo Maresca has used the France international more in cup competitions where he frequently earns starts, while in the league he is generally only trusted to make bit-part appearances near the end of matches.
Speaking to NewBettingSites.uk, former Chelsea player Chris Sutton stated "I can see Nkunku leaving. Maresca seems reluctant to use his bench and Nkunku hasn't had enough regular game time. The fact he's down the pecking order and not getting regular game time, it certainly tells you that Maresca thinks he's OK, but you need more than OK if you want to push for the Premier League title."
Sutton continued, "Nkunku had that horrific injury but unless you get regular game time, it’s really difficult to find that rhythm. He is a talented player but it looks like another one where it’s just not going to happen for him at Chelsea."
