According to a report from L'Équipe, Joris Chotard (23) could be on the move from his formative club Montpellier HSC during the upcoming transfer window.
The midfielder who represented France at the Paris Olympics over the summer looked poised to leave the south of France before the start of this season. It had become increasingly clear by the end of the 2023/24 campaign that Chotard was ready to take the next step in his career.
This was a situation that suited Montpellier as they were in desperate need of additional funds and Chotard's price only looked to be increasing as he helped France reach the Olympic final. Wolfsburg approached with a bid of around €9 million, however, this was rejected under the assumption that the Bundesliga side would return with an improved offer.
Wolfsburg did not return and as the transfer window shut Chotard and Montpellier were stuck in a situation that suited neither party. Chotard is on the market again with L'Équipe writing that the club will accept at the minimum a €6 million offer.
There has been interest from the Bundesliga and also from La Liga with rivals Sevilla and Real Betis both inquiring with a view to securing the midfielder's signature in the summer. For Montpellier, sat at the bottom of the table, a transfer would certainly help the club reinvest in their squad.
