Former Lille and Saint-Étienne striker Nolan Roux retires from football

Nolan Roux has retired from football at the age of 35 after being without a club since he left LB Châteauroux at the end of last season.
Despite placing 14th in the league, Châteauroux were relegated from the third division of French football due to administrative issues, and Roux was allowed to walk away from the club.
Trained in RC Lens, where he only made one appearance as a professional, the now-retired forward came to prominence during his time with Stade Brestois. Two seasons in Brittany earned him a move to Lille OSC in 2012 where the Frenchman experienced Champions League football and earned two caps for the national side.
The Europa League then followed when he swapped the North of France for AS Saint-Étienne in 2015. Roux bounced around clubs in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 before joining Châteauroux in 2021, which would prove to be the last stop in his journey.

Noux called time on his career on social media, with a bitter-sweet statement, "Thank you football. I gave. I took. I appreciated you… and hated you. You were part of my life, I salute you and thank you."
