Hamidou Makalou (18) completed a transfer to Stade Brestois and was thrown straight into it one day later in a 0-0 draw against Stade de Reims
It was only on Saturday that Makalou’s move to Brest was confirmed. The Malian midfielder arrives very highly rated having won the Ballon d’Argent during the U17 World Cup, which took place in Indonesia in 2023. The 2006-born midfielder has signed a contract that runs until 2029.
He comes from the same academy, Jean-Marc Guillou Academy, as new Brest team-mate Kamory Doumbia. At the time of signing for Brest, Makalou was playing for Malian first-division side Guiars FC.
Having joined on Saturday, he made his debut on Sunday. The midfielder played the final 13 minutes as Brest were held by Reims at the Stade Francis Le Blé. Quite the hectic weekend for the Mali youth international who will be looking to play an important role in the final sprint.
