Lille set stance on Jonathan David and Angel Gomes January exits

The futures of Jonathan David (24) and Angel Gomes (24) are in question. The duo have been crucial for Lille OSC in recent seasons, however, their contracts are up at the end of the season.
As things stand, there is no progress in terms of securing renewals and as a result, it is now expected that both will leave the club on a free transfer come the end of the season. There is, however, the chance that Lille decide to cash in on the pair. Both David and Gomes, who recently became an England international, have good value on the market but if LOSC are to receive anything for them, they would have to be sold in January.
Speaking on L’Équipe du Soir, Les Dogues’ president, Olivier Létang, set his stance on January departures, without specifically broaching the futures of David and Gomes. “It is out of the question that an important player, who is playing well for the team, leaves us in January,” said Létang.
The idea is to retain their talent this January as they look to once again qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The risk, however, is that come the summer, they will lose David and Gomes for nothing.
