AS Monaco’s Folarin Balogun (23) will undergo an operation on his shoulder issue, Adi Hütter has revealed in a pre-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News.
Balogun recently returned from a dislocated shoulder, suffered against Stade Rennais at the start of October. Having made an appearance off the bench against Benfica, he then started just a matter of days later against Olympique de Marseille.
However, the USMNT forward suffered a setback. After heavy contact on the affected shoulder during a duel with Leonardo Balerdi, Balogun missed the weekend win over Toulouse FC. There was considerable pessimism regarding his presence to face his formative club, Arsenal. Absent from training on Tuesday, Balogun did not travel with the squad.
Not only will he not face his formative club, but he is now set for a lengthy absence. Hütter has confirmed that the striker will undergo surgery on the injury. “It is a shame for him and a shame for us,” aid the Monaco manager. Hütter could not provide a reutrn date for his stricken forward.
