Portuguese head coach Bruno Baltazar has been appointed Stade Malherbe Caen head coach, the Normandy Ligue 2 side has confirmed this Sunday. Earlier today, Caen announced they had parted ways with club legend Nicolas Seube, who badly struggled this season. Caen are 16th in the league, having lost nine games out of a possible 16. The first manager appointed by the club’s new owners – Kylian Mbappé’s venture capital firm, Coalition Capital – is Bruno Baltazar.

The 47-year-old Portuguese head coach was Sabri Lamouchi’s deputy coach during the Frenchman’s tenure at Nottingham Forest during the 2019-2020 season. Baltazar also had spells at Olhanense, Limassol and APOEL with which he won the Cypriot League in 2018. Baltazar resigned from his position this Sunday as head coach of Radomiak Radom, in the Polish first-tier, to land the Caen job.
